UPDATE
The hippies saw that the cops were serious and got the fuck out of there. In the meantime, I was eating cheese and crackers and summer sausage, hoping for some serious entertainment but once again, I was disappointed. At least this shit happened during the daytime so I didn't lose any sleep over it - in fact, it got me out of hanging pictures and shit for the time being.

Multiculturalism didn't work in Europe. Learn from that.
Reprinted word for word from The Patriot's Corner:
This is what multiculturalism has brought upon our nation
This is what multiculturalism has brought upon our nation
Posted byPatriotUSAat12:06 PM
This is a travesty beyond imagination. We have become so diversified, become so multicultural that being a Patriotic American is now being unconsidered unconstitutional. That a handful of students were treated this way and a bunch of mexican students sniveled and whined about the white students wearing t-shirts with AMERICAN FLAGS on them on the mexican 'holiday' cinco de mayo day, is most repulsive to this American Patriot. That the Morgan Hill High School would treat white students this way is disgusting. How do you think American White students in Mexico would be treated if they paraded around a mexican high school campus with an American Flag on the 4th of July, say in Mexico City?
This is what excessive multiculturalism, excessive diversity and political correctness have brought to America. We wonder why our country is in trouble and at the base of all our ills is the tearing away of our foundations. A strong family led by a married couple, a MAN and a Woman, the teaching of morals and ethics in our schools, the teaching of the basics of education at the very beginning at the earliest ages, reading, writing, math and then moving into more advanced subjects. We have lost the majority of technical classes than ensure our children will know how to manufacture goods and produce services to help our country remain economically strong an ever competitive global economy. What has happened to wood, metal shop and the likes of automotive repair classes? They are gone or being cut. No wonder our children are lost, cannot read or write. Computer and technical skills are great but they will never duplicate what the human mind and a good pair of hands will be able to create. When our children learn to type on a keyboard exclusively and run computer programs at the expense of writing by hand or actually calling someone rather than texting, the damage to our children is deep and is just now starting to show up with kids who cannot converse to save themselves or pass a basic reading or writing class in high school.
Not only do you have the above issues but now add into this that our children are now raised not argue or if you get in a fight, turn your back and walk away. I am sorry, young boys sometimes need to fight it out and so do some girls. This has been totally killed in our schools and if a child defends him or herself, they are almost always the ones the ones that get in much worse trouble. My son knows how to defend himself and I have gone to his schools several times to defend his actions when he got in a fight or hassle. There was only a time or two he was responsible for starting it but you had better believe he knows how to defend himself and when push comes to shove, he is ready.
We raise our children that they can always be 'winners' and to be a loser or lose at something, no matter it is is wrong and must be avoided at all costs. My son quite soccer which he was incredibly good at it because the coaches refused to let the game be rough and tumble and at games neither team, even the one who lost was the loser and it was banned to call the losing team losers. In life there are winners and losers. We learn much more from our mistakes, losses, adversity than we do from being a bunch of whining winners all the time. This is rampant in our public schools today being taught from the earliest grades up through high school. It is being stealthily done but it is there. Homosexuality is now an acceptable lifestyle in kindergarten? Since when and why do five and six year old kids need to learn this. And we wonder what is wrong with our country. Yes, much of what is wrong is capsulized in Washington D. C. but look inside our homes for problems that I think are equally as bad and dangerous as what is going on in our nation's capitol.
What we have witnessed in Morgan Hill is one of the end results that will do more damage to the White American Kids because of what this says to them. It is OK for mexcican students to parade about with a meixcan national flag on cinco de mayo in our country, the United States and not alright for a small group of white(Anglo as in the story below)students to take offense to this on their home country soil?
This group of boys just wanted show their love of country and patriotism.
This group of boys just wanted show their love of country and patriotism.
Add to this the wrongs being committed to the American people by too many illegal aliens in our country and a government that is too cowardly to enforce the rules that are already on the books because they are so paranoid about having enough votes to stay in office, pull in donations from unions(SEIU), La Raza, and other corrupt organization that basically hate the America I grew up in and with. When the well being and safety of mexican students is chosen over the rights of American white students, the system has committed a violation of the white students first amendment rights. When simply wearing an American flag in a public school warrants this type of knee jerk, liberal action from a school principal then he should be recalled from his position. There was no reason to send these kids home. Did a riot break out? No A fight? No. Just a bunch of mexicican kids who feel that can do whatever they want because they are entitled to all of this because we have given them everything since they were born here and most of their parents are probably here illegally.
The attorney representing the White kids is absolutely correct to appeal this and I hope he gets all the legal help he needs to take this all the way to Supreme Court if need be. There is much more at stake here in Morgan Hill than meets the eye. Those who are here in this country need to learn to respect the people who were long before their parents came here, many illegally. They need to learn to assimilate into American society and adapt to our uniquely American culture. No one is asking these mexican to give up their love of mexico or being mexican. It is about respect for Americans (the vast majority who are legal and were born here) and the country these mexicans now live in.
It is quite simple, If you do not love the United States with all it has that is good and all that is has that is far from perfect, then get the hell out. The Rio Grand is quite low in many places and you will hardly get wet in returning to your homeland, mexico.

Netanyahu: "FUCK YOU, OBAMA!!!!!"
Israel refuses to tell US its Iran intentions
Israel has refused to reassure President Barack Obama that it would warn him in advance of any pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear capabilities, raising fears that it may be planning a go-it-alone attack as early as next summer
The US leader was rebuffed last month when he demanded private guarantees that no strike would go ahead without White House notification, suggesting Israelno longer plans to "seek Washington's permission", sources said. The disclosure, made by insiders briefed on a top-secret meeting between America's most senior defence chief and Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's hawkish prime minister, comes amid concerns that Iran's continuing progress towards nuclear weapons capability means the Jewish state has all but lost hope for a diplomatic solution.

On Tuesday, UN weapons inspectors released their most damning report to date into Iran's nuclear activities, saying for the first time that the Islamic republic appeared to be building a nuclear weapon. It was with that grave possiblity in mind that Leon Panetta, the US defence secretary, flew into Israel last month on what was ostensibly a routine trip.
Officially, his brief was restricted to the Middle East peace process, but the most important part of his mission was a private meeting with Mr Netanyahu and the defence minister, Ehud Barak. Once all but a handful of trusted staff had left the room, Mr Panetta conveyed an urgent message from Barack Obama. The president, Mr Panetta said, wanted an unshakable guarantee that Israel would not carry out a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear installations without first seeking Washington's clearance.
The two Israelis were notably evasive in their response, according to sources both in Israel and the United States.
"They did not suggest that military action was being planned or was imminent, but neither did they give any assurances that Israel would first seek Washington's permission, or even inform the White House in advance that a mission was underway," one said.
And that's what he gets for the way he treats our allies.
Fucking idiot, does he really think Israel would tell him so that he could tip off his brothers in Iran?

Finally, this shit is fixing to get interesting.
PORTLAND — Since that announcement Portland Police have become aware of information that is concerning. We understand a call has gone out to Oakland, Seattle and San Francisco and perhaps other cities encouraging people to come to Portland and engage in resistance. People in the camp are expecting 100-300 re-enforcements from various locations. There may even be as many as 150 anarchists who will arrive soon. There is information that people may be in the in trees during a police action and that there are people who are attempting to obtain a large number of gas masks.
There is a hole being dug in one of the parks and wood is being used to reinforce the area around it. There are reports that nails have been hammered into wood for weapons and that generally there are people in the camps preparing for a confrontation with police.
Last night Portland Police officers provided security while Portland Parks and Recreation security manager posted “No Camping” signs in the park. 36 signs were posted in all, although some were taken down by the occupiers almost immediately.
People were seen carrying pallets into the camp shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning. The destination of the pallets is a structure with graffiti in the northwest part of Chapman Park, also known as “The 420 Hotel”. The people there are very suspicious of any passers by, we are not sure at this point what exactly they are doing. We have been told it looks like they were making shields.

Hey Portland PD - you fuckers need any help? I can rustle up a dozen or so volunteers that'll take the front line when you move in provided you promise us complete immunity for any actions we might have to take.
We can be there in 12 hours and be done in 3......

Ooops!!!
Seventeen soldiers have been killed in an explosion at a military base near Iran's capital Tehran, officials say.
The blast occurred when weapons were being moved inside a Revolutionary Guards depot, a spokesman for the elite unit told state TV. Windows in nearby buildings were shattered and the blast was heard in central Tehran, 40 km (25 miles) away.
Two hours after the explosion a fire still raged and there were traffic jams on nearby roads, a local reporter said.
The death toll was revised down from an earlier figure released by the Revolutionary Guards of 27.
Local MP Hossein Garousi said "a large part of an ammunition depot exploded," parliament's website reported.
Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif did not say what had caused the "accident" in the village of Bidganeh, near the city of Karaj.
"Some of the casualties are reported to be in a critical condition," he said.

The cult of the M1911A1
Sean Linnane did an excellent post on why the M1911A1 is such a popular pistol for those that trust their lives on it.
I agree with him - the pistol straight out of the box is a great platform to build upon - but the biggest selling point to me is the ease that it takes to modify it yourself. Anybody with half a brain can do basic modifications to the handgun to suit his/her purposes at their dining room table.
When I bought my Colt Officers Model back in '89, I took it to the range and put 500 rounds through it the first day. That night, I was installing new grips and dehorning it. A week later when the parts came in I installed a new trigger, springs, mainspring, and an extended slide release with the total cost still coming in at less than a fully modified clone would cost me.
22 years and well over 10,000 rounds later, the gun is still my favorite weapon.
For the original post over at Stormbringer, go here. He does a much better job of explaining his reasons for the love affair than I ever could.

Family of Murdered Border Agent Breaks Silence, Lashes Out at Holder
Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry died almost one year ago. Despite almost daily headlines about the ongoing scandal in the Obama administration, his devastated parents have said nothing publicly about the U.S. program that helped provide the weapons that killed their son.
Until now.
In separate interviews, Josephine and Kent Terry lashed out Thursday at those they blame for Brian's murder -- Attorney General Eric Holder, his top assistant Lanny Breuer, former U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, and those ATF officials who approved, executed and supervised Operation Fast and Furious.
"I think they are liars and I would tell them that," said Kent Terry from his home in central Michigan. "What would I say to Eric Holder? They would not be nice words."
Terry is in his 70's, paralyzed and bound to a chair after an accident 17 years ago. His former wife Josephine lives 90 minutes north near Detroit.
"If they never let the guns walk, maybe Brian would not have been out that day," Josephine said. "I just can't believe our own government came up with a program like this that (let) innocent people get killed."
The Terrys watched Holder's appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Asked if he wanted to apologize to the family, Holder declined, saying only he regretted what happened.
"That shows what kind of a person he is," Kent lamented. "To me, he is not much of a person. I don't know if he has a son. But if he lost his, he would think different."
"I sat in a chair and cried," Josephine said. "It was so inhumane. An apology to anybody means at least they are trying to fix it. He didn't."
Blasted for his response, Holder did send the Terrys a letter Wednesday saying he was sorry for their loss.

Blasted for his response, Holder did send the Terrys a letter Wednesday saying he was sorry for their loss.
While Holder chided Congress for "gotcha games" and "political finger pointing" in its investigation, the family disagrees. They say no administration official ever explained why the ATF knowingly sold guns to criminals. Josephine also claims former U.S. Attorney Burke intentionally misled her, saying in March the whistleblowers' claims were "false," when documents show he knew their claims were true.
"Dennis Burke came up to my house and he said, 'No, none of them guns killed Brian. None of them'."
Burke, whose office directed the operation, resigned in September.
Kent, a former auto machinist, shared a love of cars with his son. When Brian died he shipped his 2006 Corvette from Arizona to Michigan where it sits, untouched, in the garage. The car is immaculate, except for a black smudge on the driver's seat.
"That's where his gun rubbed against the leather," Kent said. "I can see him, as I did that day he came home, with the sun shinning in his hair. How do I get closure? I go out to his car. I have a tough time going to the cemetery. He is not supposed to be there. I am. Nobody wants to outlive their son."
He said he struggles with the death to this day. "It's just hard. I can't sleep, just thinking about him -- I love him very much."
Josephine is strong but also still grieves. Each morning she logs onto Brian's Facebook page and looks at videos he once posted and snapshots of his life.
"It brings me a little closure, like he is still with me," she said.
Both parents want Holder to resign, citing his response to a question from Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who asked if Holder thought it was his responsibility to have known about Operation Fast and Furious.
"There are 115,000 employees in the Department of Justice," Holder said. "I cannot be expected to know the details of every operation on a day-to-day basis."
To which Kent said: "Holder says he has 115,000 employees. That is his job. If he can't handle his job, he should get out of it."

Predator hunting basics
Predator Hunting Basics
Whether you are a newcomer to the sport of predator hunting, or a seasoned veteran who has hit a slump, covering the basics is the key to success.by Emory Josey
Coyotes
Coyotes will eat anything they can get their jaws around, from a mouse to a full-grown deer. They will respond to any prey distress call, even if the sound the call is making isn’t mimicking a species native to the area. I’ve never seen a jackrabbit, but when I added a jackrabbit distress to my e-caller, my coyote responses increased; a new sound they had never heard. These canines can be lured by distress cries and also by their own vocalizations, which include howls, barks, whines and pup distress calls.Gray Fox
When I began calling predators almost 40 years ago, the gray fox was my most common kill. These guys would respond day or night with unbelievable boldness. Today, things are different. Gray fox are not quite as bold, and they tend to inhabit thick brushy habitat that a cottontail would have trouble penetrating. Their numbers have decreased. The coyote is the main reason. The surviving gray foxes learned that at the end of the trail leading to a rabbit-distress sound, a coyote might be causing the screaming. The gray fox can still be called, but one must hunt closer to thick cover. The calling sequence must be longer and the hunter must look for not much more than a fox head peeking from brush instead of a bold charge. While a coyote might respond better to a short calling sequence that is followed by several minutes of silence, the gray fox responds best to continuous calling, though at much lower volume.
Red Fox
I can’t speak for the rest of the country, but in Georgia the red fox is about to go the way of the passenger pigeon. The gray fox inhabits thick brush and can usually (not always) escape the hungry jaws of a coyote. It can also climb a tree to escape. The red fox is a creature of open land and either can’t or won’t climb a tree. In my state, the coyote is decimating the red fox population. For those of you who still have a respectable population of red foxes and are inclined to hunt them, treat them exactly as you would a coyote. They have a good nose and, unlike the gray fox, tend to circle and sniff the breeze. Like the gray fox, they will respond to a rabbit distress, but I usually get more responses from fox, both red and gray, by using bird-distress calls.
Bobcat
Arguably, the bobcat is the most desirable predator trophy in the Southeast. Most hunters lust for a mounted bobcat. When I began calling the critters, my fox-to-bobcat ratio was something like 25-to-1. Such results caused me to believe that bobcats were harder to call than foxes. Just the opposite is true. The bobcat is rarely bothered by the presence of human scent. A shot-at-and-missed fox might become call-shy. A missed bobcat will likely come to the call again the next day if he is close and hungry. He just can’t bridge the mental gap and connect a screaming rabbit to a hunter with a gun, even if the gun goes “boom” and kicks dirt in his face.Bobcats will respond to a prey-distress call during daylight hours if they are really hungry, but prefer to stalk their prey under cover of darkness. Like housecats, bobcats spend most of the daylight hours sleeping or just resting. Their coat is a very effective camouflage that blends with leaves and forest detritus. The predator caller who hunts the bobcat in daylight should concentrate his efforts during the crepuscular periods of early morning and late evening.
Raccoons
While predator calling is my favorite sport, I also like to hunt wild turkeys. I never pass up a legal opportunity to kill a raccoon because they are the wild turkey’s worst enemy. I consider the raccoon a predator just as much as the cats and canines. Raccoons will occasionally come to a prey-distress call, usually at night. Although I have had them respond to other sounds, a bird-distress call is most effective. The Nose Knows
Some veteran hunters don’t attempt to neutralize human scent. Neither do they bother to use a cover scent. Instead, they carefully play the wind to their advantage. I employ all three tactics to give myself every edge. I am not so naïve as to think that a cover scent will completely fool a coyote’s nose. Neither do I believe that any of the “scent neutralizers” are totally effective. I have learned that a coyote will tolerate some human scent if it isn’t fresh. My experience has been that both cover scents and neutralizers will often confuse the coyote long enough for a shot opportunity, even if the coyote is approaching from downwind. You will note that I refer to the coyote here because it is this predator that possesses, by far, the best olfactory system (smeller).Setup
In addition to avoiding the predator’s eyes and nose, setup is equally as important. Walk into the wind, or at least into a cross wind, when approaching the calling site. When possible, keep the sun at your back. Approach the calling location quietly, which means no talking, no metal-to-metal clinking and no slamming of doors. By the same token, leave as quietly as you enter. There could be predators nearby that, for whatever reason, did not respond. Even if you kill a predator, gunfire usually does not spook others that are close, but did not respond. Start whooping over your success or jack some shells out of your pump gun and you’ve just given any predator within earshot a degree in Hunter 101.Evaluate Yourself
If you are a beginner, these basics will put you on the right track. You will make mistakes; we all do, but learn from them. Analyze each hunt, whether successful or not. If you have played this game for a while with little or no success, don’t be discouraged. You are making mistakes, but the answers to many of your problems are likely to be found somewhere in the pages you just read. Good Hunting!- Predator Xtreme

Just a few more thoughts on this day
I had some time to think about Veterans' Day today when Vets were seeking out other Vets and shaking hands, thanking each other for their Service.
I work in a huge warehouse with about 350 other guys (and a handful of female clerks), yet you could count the number of Vets on your fingers. Only one guy that wasn't a Vet came up to me and thanked me.
Hey, don't get me wrong - I'm not bitter that my efforts and those of others weren't more appreciated. That's not why I enlisted. I didn't go in for respect (ask any Private how much respect he gets) or back-patting, I went in because I was raised up to believe that when a young man came of age, he went into the military for a few years to SERVE, whether it was his choice or the draft boards' choice. It was an obligation, plain and simple. A side note as far as draftees go - I have nothing but respect for those that answered the call, did their 2 years and resumed their lives. For the cowards that ran off to Canada..... well, I don't think I need to express my opinion of those "men".
Now we've been at war for 10 long years, yet we don't have a single Vet from our current conflict working in our warehouse and it ain't because my employer won't hire them. It's because youngsters nowadays have this sense of entitlement and they take the rights that they enjoy for granted.
Not only do they not feel that sense of obligation, they also have damned little respect for those that fought and died to make sure that they can enjoy those rights and privileges.
Sad, isn't it?

My policy on stealing stuff from my blog.
Knock yourself out, no need to ask permission. I probably stole it from somebody else.
I would appreciate a link back, though.
The only reason I'm posting this is I keep getting emails asking if others can use my stuff. So, just to be clear, help yourself.

Occupy Wall Street: “I Don’t Need No Fucking Job! We Can Grow Our Own Fucking Food, Shoot Our Own Fucking Animals”…
Jewish man wearing a yarmulke: I work 65 hours a week.
Protester: You probably live in the Hamptons ‘n’ some shit.
Jewish man: I live in the Hamptons? I live in Brooklyn…I work 62 hours a week. Do you work 62 hours?
Protester: You know what’s funny? Your people own schools and fuckin’ government buildings, but your wives are on welfare. I don’t understand that. I don’t understand that. I met a public assistance officer. And they were Jewish, but their husbands own fuckin’ everything.
Jewish man: I work 62 hours a week. How many hours a week do you work?
Protester: I don’t work. How about them apples?
Jewish man: So why don’t you get a job?
Protester: I don’t need a fuckin’ job.
Jewish man: Why not?
Protester: You don’t need paper! We can grow our own fuckin’ food. We can shoot our own fuckin’ animals. We can do all that shit. We can build our own fuckin’ houses.
Jewish man: How do you get the materials?
Protester: We can just take it from the Earth! You come from the Earth. This comes from the Earth. Everything comes from the Earth, you dumb motherfucker! Like seriously. Technology comes from the Earth, protons, neutrons, electrons.
Jewish man: Is this a real conversation? Is this a real conversation?
Other OWS protester: He’s making points. But he’s making points.
Jewish man: What are the points?
Protester: I don’t need a point. It comes from here (indicating the ground). It came from here for free! Why we gotta pay for it? It’s here for free! Why we gotta pay for it? It’s bullshit. This is bullshit.

Two things:
For a motherfucker that doesn't work, he sure is sporting some fancy clothes. Where did he get the money for them, selling dope?
And this ignorant sonofabitch has never done a days' work in his entire life and I doubledamn guarentee you that if he had to grow his own food, he'd fucking starve. Farming is hard work. And can you see him trying to butcher an animal? Now that would be worth watching.

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) — A group of Oakland anti-Wall Street protesters who blame large banks for the economic downturn have decided that one of those institutions is the best place to stash their money for now.
Protesters at an Occupy Oakland meeting Monday voted to deposit a $20,000 donation into a Wells Fargo account. The move comes just days after one of Wells Fargo’s branches was vandalized during a massive downtown demonstration.

Facts about The Wall
I am the proud son of a 3 tour Vietnam Veteran, a Professional Soldier that served his Country from 1957 to 1977.
His first battle was with the Cav in Ia Drang on 14 November 1965, his last tour was at Cu Chi in 1970-71 as a TC on an M-88 Tank Recovery Vehicle. He retired as a Maintenance Warrant, CW2.
He's 72 years old now and looks 85, his health is failing and his memory is starting to slip, but his back is still straight, his eyes still have fire, and I still won't fuck with him.
His wife, my mother, passed this along to me today.
Read it and remember the sacrifices of the Soldiers, their families, and their hometowns.
SOMETHING to think about - Most of the surviving Parents are now deceased. There are 58,267 names now listed on that polished black wall, including those added in 2010. The names are arranged in the order in which they were taken from us by date and within each date the names are alphabetized. It is hard to believe it is 36 years since the last casualties.
Beginning at the apex on panel 1E and going out to the end of the East wall, appearing to recede into the earth (numbered 70E - May 25, 1968), then resuming at the end of the West wall, as the wall emerges from the earth (numbered 70W - continuing May 25, 1968) and ending with a date in 1975. Thus the war's beginning and end meet. The war is complete, coming full circle, yet broken by the earth that bounds the angle's open side and contained within the earth itself.
The first known casualty was Richard B. Fitzgibbon, of North Weymouth , Mass. Listed by the U.S. Department of Defense as having been killed on June 8, 1956. His name is listed on the Wall with that of his son, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Richard B. Fitzgibbon III, who was killed on Sept. 7, 1965.
There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall.
39,996 on the Wall were just 22 or younger.
8,283 were just 19 years old.
The largest age group, 33,103 were 18 years old.
12 soldiers on the Wall were 17 years old.
5 soldiers on the Wall were 16 years old.
One soldier, PFC Dan Bullock was 15 years old.
997 soldiers were killed on their first day in Vietnam .
1,448 soldiers were killed on their last day in Vietnam .
31 sets of brothers are on the Wall.
Thirty one sets of parents lost two of their sons.
54 soldiers on attended Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia . ( I wonder why so many from one school.)
8 Women are on the Wall. Nursing the wounded.
244 soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War; 153 of them are on the Wall.
Beallsville, Ohio with a population of 475 lost 6 of her sons.
West Virginia had the highest casualty rate per capita in the nation. There are 711 West Virginians on the Wall.
The Marines of Morenci - They led some of the scrappiest high school football and basketball teams that the little Arizona copper town of Morenci (pop. 5,058) had ever known and cheered. They enjoyed roaring beer busts. In quieter moments, they rode horses along the Coronado Trail, stalked deer in the Apache National Forest . And in the patriotic camaraderie typical of Morenci's mining families, the nine graduates of Morenci High enlisted as a group in the Marine Corps. Their service began on Independence Day, 1966. Only 3 returned home.
The Buddies of Midvale - LeRoy Tafoya, Jimmy Martinez, Tom Gonzales were all boyhood friends and lived on three consecutive streets in Midvale, Utah on Fifth, Sixth and Seventh avenues. They lived only a few yards apart. They played ball at the adjacent sandlot ball field. And they all went to Vietnam . In a span of 16 dark days in late 1967, all three would be killed. LeRoy was killed on Wednesday, Nov. 22, the fourth anniversary of John F. Kennedy assassination. Jimmy died less than 24 hours later on Thanksgiving Day. Tom was shot dead assaulting the enemy on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
The most casualty deaths for a single day was on January 31, 1968 ~ 245 deaths. ( the Tet Offensive )
The most casualty deaths for a single month was May 1968 - 2,415 casualties were incurred.
For most Americans who read this they will only see the numbers that the Vietnam War created. To those of us who survived the war, and to the families of those who did not, we see the faces, we feel the pain that these numbers created. We are, until we too pass away, haunted with these numbers, because they were our friends, fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters. There are no noble wars, just noble warriors.

Don't panic! FEMA urges Americans not to worry as national alert system is tested
- First-ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System to occur on November 9 at 2:00pm EST
- Will last up to three-and-a-half minutes
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are spearheading an aggressive public education campaign reminding Americans not to panic when they lose television and radio service for a few minutes on Wednesday during a test of the Emergency Alert System.
Although the public alert mechanism is decades old and often tested and used at the local level, it has never before been tested on a nationwide scale.
This first-ever test will occur at 2:00pm EST on Wednesday, November 9 and will occur simultaneously across the U.S. and its territories, lasting up to three-and-a-half-minutes.

Why not? He's apologized to everybody else in the world.
(Briefing Room) — A Republican congressman from New York is calling on President Obama to apologize to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for comments Obama made that were caught on a live mic.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said to Obama that he “cannot bear Netanyahu, he’s a liar.”
“You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you,” Obama responded according to a French interpreter.
Sarkozy and Obama were unaware that they were speaking in the range of an open mic.
In response, Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) is calling on Obama to formally apologize for his remarks.
“I find President Obama’s criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu highly offensive and call on him to issue a formal apology on behalf of the American people,” Grimm said in a statement Tuesday. “Whether the microphones are on or off, the message to our allies in Israel should always remain the same: ‘We stand with you.’”

August 18, 2011 Obama: The Affirmative Action President
August 18, 2011 Obama: The Affirmative Action President
By Matt Patterson (columnist - Washington Post, New York Post, San Francisco Examiner)
Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?
Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present") ; and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.
And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?
Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:
To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass.
Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass -- held to a lower standard -- because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues:
And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?
Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon -- affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.
Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist.
Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin -- that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama.
True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks?
In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people -- conservatives included -- ought now to be deeply embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all.
And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?
In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job.

Always listen to Granny
My grandmother died in the 60s, but her birthday is coming up, and that always causes me to reminisce. The long walks we used to take to the store in town, the quarters she gave me for meaningless jobs like pulling weeds or washing the sidewalk...
Those gems were all good, but the one I remember most, the jewel in the crown of grandmotherly advice, occurred when I was only about 13. We were sitting in a park having just finished collecting some 40 soda bottles for the deposit money on a beautiful spring day.
She told me that one day, I would find a wonderful woman and start my own family. "And always remember this," she said "Be sure you marry a woman with small hands."
"How come, Grandma?" I asked her.
She answered in her soft voice ....

Bill Clinton: Get rid of the 22nd Amendment
National Journal picks up on a truly odd moment from today’s Morning Joe in more ways than one. Joe Scarborough tells Bill Clinton that he will be inundated with e-mail and calls after the end of their segment asking why Bill Clinton can’t run for a third term in office, and then blames Republicans for “not wanting another FDR” after his fourth term ended in less than three months due to his death. “Shouldn’t Americans have that choice?” Scarborough asks Clinton, who seems pleased with the notion.
Where to start? First, the 22nd Amendment codified what had been tradition in American presidential politics, starting with the first American President, George Washington, who turned down an opportunity to be a lifetime President (and probably dictator) by declining a run at a third term. Hailed as the American Cincinnatus, no American President ever arrogantly thought himself so great as to transcend Washington until FDR in 1940. When he passed away, the nation figured that it should protect against another arrogant politician by defining term limits for the most powerful office in the US — and given that it took two-thirds in both the House and Senate to pass the Amendment and then three-quarters of the states to ratify it, that sentiment was clearly shared by more than just the Republicans of that time. Or does Scarborough not understand the process of amending the Constitution?
Next, there are very large qualitative differences between the American presidency and Prime Ministers in parliamentary systems. The former runs the executive branch independently, with a co-equal Congress providing checks and balances but not authority over the President. In modern times, the presidency has become ever more powerful and difficult to oversee, which makes Washington’s precedent even more necessary. Parliament exercises authority over Prime Ministers in those systems, and can bring down a government on a single vote of no confidence if necessary, prompting new elections within weeks. Serving three or four terms in that position doesn’t create the issues of unchecked power that three or four terms in our federal system could produce, and almost certainly would produce with an executive who somehow feels that no one else alive should hold the job he (or she) had held for two or more terms already.
In general, I don’t favor term limits for the reason that Scarborough offers here, which is that voters should determine who best represents them in legislatures at all levels. (They also don’t have the cleansing effect people presume, which California has amply demonstrated over the last two decades.) But we have imbued the Presidency with so much power and so many hurdles to true oversight that it remains in our best interest to cleanse the office on a regular basis — and that’s just as true of Clinton as it was of Bush, and would be of Obama as well if he ever manages to win a second term at all.
- Hot Air
Of course we all know Roosevelt was such a shitty president that the American people AND Congress couldn't wait to pass the 22nd Amendment right after he died.
I'm surprised that the Obamessiah hasn't tried to get it repealed - but then he doesn't need to - I'm sure he has a national emergency planned so he can cancel the elections.
And all I got to say about that is: Try it. You'll have a bloodbath on your hands.

My Git Kit
I got a request last week about my Git Kit, so I decided to post it today. What the hell, I'd been planning on it for a while, I just needed a kick in the ass to unpack, photograph it and re-pack it.
Now you have to keep in mind that this is MY kit, suitable for MY climate and MY options. I would be stupid to try and use this in the Northeast or the Great Plains area, in fact, anywhere other than the Southwest or Kalifornia. You have to pack your own to suit your own purposes, so this is just an example for 98% (I'll never use the term '99%' again) of you.
So here goes:

You have to pack your own to suit your own purposes, so this is just an example for 98% (I'll never use the term '99%' again) of you.
So here goes:
Packed and ready to go, in my living room.
Unpacked for your viewing pleasure
Basically what I've got is enough to live on for 3-7 days either in the woods or in town, but mostly leaning towards a rural area.
Working from bottom to the top there is: an e-tool, socks (6 pairs total), personal hygiene kit, TP, 1 pair of Carhartt pants, a BDU shirt, K-Bar, a fine Arkansas stone, skinning knife and diamond hone, water filter, batteries, sewing kit, first aid pouch, canteen cup (with socks inside), cleaning kit, 50 rounds of 41 magnum underneath my cleaning kit, 60 rounds for my long range rifle, a brick of fire starter, a garbage bag, sunblock, heavy gloves, 25' of 3'8" rope, 100' feet of 3/8" rope, 8' x 12' camo tarp, poncho liner, and a machete.
On top of the poncho liner is my Rocket Pocket stove, 16 hours of fuel, a C-link, spoon, an assortment of zip-lok bags and 6 freeze dried meals.
Not pictured is a case of matches, instant coffee, and a baggie full of individually packed oatmeal - I had set them aside for some reason and I'll be damned if I'm going to unpack and re-pack for another picture, so you'll just have to imagine them there.
Why the machete? It's a tool, not a weapon, used to clear brush that's too light for a saw and too springy for an ax.
In the top picture, the digital camo bag holds my camo dome tent.
My Rocket Pocket cookstove
Attached to the outside of my backpack are pouches containing absolute necessities that I can snatch in case I have to drop my ruck and run.
The first aid pouch contains band-aids and disinfectant in the tube, 2 packets of Quik Clot for deep gashes, alcohol swabs, a packet of Celox for arterial bleeding or gunshot wounds, a high speed tourniquet (thanks, D), ace bandage and triangular bandage, a tube of Krazy Glue and finally an aspirin bottle full of 800 mg Ibuprofen.
With the Quik Clot, glue and Celox, you can probably tell that I'm not into home suturing, huh?
The other pouch contains a snap link, skeeter repellant, multi-tool (again, thanks, D) an emergency blanket/bag, fire steel, an emergency weather alert radio, flashlight, a bottle of treated dryer lint for tinder, my marching compass and 50 feet of 550 cord.
So there it is. I also have my basic load of ammo for my weapon and night vision scope in a medics' bag to be slung over my shoulder and a 2 quart canteen to round out my gear.
Total weight without the tent and ammo? 28 pounds.
Again, I have to stress that I live in a mild climate - it rarely gets below freezing here. Even so, now that the weather has taken a chill, I'm adding a couple pairs of long underwear to the ruck and keeping my hunting coat and gloves within reach.
And where do I store all this? In my living room 8 feet away from my Camouflaged Bass Pro Easy Chair and 15 feet from my front door. I don't give a shit what it looks like there, although it does fit in nicely with my Early American White Trash decor. What good is there in having a Git Kit if you have to dig it all out? I can grab my gear and be rolling down the road in less than 1 minute.
Finally, just a quick note: Most of this stuff I already had for hunting and camping. Sure, I had to buy some duplicate stuff, but I was surprised at what I already had 2 or 3 of. The hardest part was finding a decent pack that was roomy, enough zippers and compartments to make everything easily accessible, and most of all, comfortable. I picked that one up at Big 5 Sporting Goods on sale for 20 bucks (really!!!) and it's lightweight, made of durable waterproof material, has a internal frame, and everything is triple stitched. Not only that, but it doesn't look military. Without a weapon, I'd look like every other street guy bumming beer money.

Mondays suck
I just got back from the dentist for my deep root cleaning.
Man, that takes all the fun out of going to the dentist. That and the Copenhagen I wasted trying to cram it into my numb face when I left the office.

Madam Botox speaks
Here's a couple of paragraphs taken from a story in the New Yorker. For the all the bullshit go to the liberal rag here.
Pelosi barely slowed to breathe as she held forth on the issues of the day, from the World Series (she refused her husband’s entreaties to turn off the sixth game and go to sleep) to Occupy Wall Street. “People say, ‘Oh, they don’t have a message,’ ” she said. “They don’t need a message. They’re making a statement.” Although she didn’t have all the details of a recent clash in Oakland between police officers and protesters that left an Iraq War veteran hospitalized, she expressed disapproval of the police’s use of force. “I simply don’t understand why they did it,” she said. “It isn’t, I don’t think, appropriate.”
Pelosi rarely watches television, except for sports, and she hasn’t watched any of the Republican Presidential-candidate debates. She believes that Obama is in better shape than the polls indicate. “The Republicans are helping him a lot,” she said. “The extremists—I don’t like to even use that word—those Republicans going too far, sort of stir up the Democratic base, and point out the urgency.”

Just a couple of comments, but Pelosi is so full of herself that I have to limit myself - I have a dental appointment in a couple of hours.
“They don’t need a message. They’re making a statement.”
Yeah, they need a message. You've got a bunch of idiots out there raising hell and costing their cities thousands of dollars a day to keep them under control and without a message, they're not accomplishing a damned thing. All they're doing is being a pain in the ass.
she expressed disapproval of the police’s use of force. “I simply don’t understand why they did it,” she said. “It isn’t, I don’t think, appropriate.”
Um, because Oakland is a city of thugs and anarchists that riot at the drop of a hat. The police's use of force is what we like to call 'heading them off at the pass'.
(Remember when the transit cop shot that homeless dude accidentally? 3 days of rioting, with thousands and thousands of dollars in damage to personal property.)
After the OWS camp was cleared out, they were allowed to return last week and what happened? More destruction of private property.
And why is it, Madam Botox, that when the Tea Parties gathered for their peaceful protests, you condemned them and called them extremists (even though you don't like to use that word) but when it's your own scum that's illegally occupying public property and commiting crimes, you give them your blessing?
She believes that Obama is in better shape than the polls indicate.
Yeah, what the hell do the people know? That statement just goes to show how out of touch you are with reality. Remember when your mama told you not to cross your eyes because they might stay that way? That's what happened to your brain.
